Niners Must Cut Aldon Smith

Aldon Smith's rap sheet has gotten a little bit longer.

The San Francisco 49ers linebacker was recently arrested, according to reports, was arrested at Los Angeles Interantional Airport on a false bomb report. Here's a part of the statement given by Niners GM Trent Baalke.

"We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

Damien Woody made a very good point. Guys like Aldon Smith need to stop messing with their money. In less than a year, Smith has been in trouble with the law.  In September, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession in September 2013. In June 2012, Smith had three felony weapons charges.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm just a journalist and I don't make millions of dollars to do what I do. If all I've got to do is keep my nose clean during the offseason to play a child's game and make millions of dollars, I'd make it a point to be the best "boy scout" my team has during the offseason to make sure I'm not on SportsCenter and in the newspapers for all the wrong reasons.

Now, the Niners have to make a decision. Smith is one of the best linebackers in the league today and can be a menace to opposing offenses. However, he has proven to be a public relations nightmare for your team with all of these incidents. If I were in charge of football decisions for San Francisco, I'd drop Smith. He's one less headache that our team has to worry about. All of this is purely another distraction that the Niners could do without.

Luckily for Smith, I don't make these decisions. But I don't know how good things are looking for him at this time. He could still find himself out of a job.
