NFL Has Eyes on Them Following Dwyer DV Arrest

The last thing the NFL needed was another domestic violence case dropped at the front door of Roger Goodell's office.

Well, that's exactly what they got Wednesday afternoon. That's when reports surfaced about Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer's arrest for domestic violence. The report came just hours after the Carolina Panthers announced Greg Hardy's "decision" to be on the team's exempt list in light of his legal troubles.

Let's look back.

Ray Rice was caught on video hitting his then-fiancee' on an Atlantic City elevator. Rice was intitally suspended two games before the Baltimore Ravens terminated his contract and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.

Greg Hardy saw no suspension and was, as previously mentioned, recently decided to go on the team's Exempt list.

Now, here's Dwyer. A back with no star power whatsoever who finds himself in the midst of his own legal troubles. It could be very easy for the league to suspend him, but the question is if they will and for how long.

Dwyer could also see his contract terminated, but the suspension that the league levies is the portion we're watching for. The NFL has to be absolutely careful in how they deal with this. If not, they could also find themselves in court for unfair practices.
